‘Mario Kart Deluxe’ Cancelled After One Season
After almost a full year of watching beloved Nintendo characters facing off against each other in epic races and battle competitions, Mario Kart Deluxe will not be returning to TOONDISE for a second season. The racing series was previously picked up for 40 half-hour episodes and ran from May 2017 through March 2018. It was our first attempt at creating a show based upon a Nintendo Switch™ video game franchise.
Mario Kart Deluxe was originally greenlit straight-to-series as a last-minute decision in order to provide our fans and viewers with new original programming that would last throughout 2017, as a result of other prior shows that were in development ultimately not working out. Unfortunately, the competitive racing series did not strike a chord with our audience. Through its 40-episode run, Mario Kart Deluxe only averaged about 12 views per episode, ranking it amongst the lowest-rated shows we have ever produced.
With the bulk of our current development slate revolving around Pokémon Sun and Moon: Alola Adventures, as well as brand new upcoming series including Fire Emblem, we have decided to move on and focus our efforts on other original programming instead.
We would like to thank everyone who watched and enjoyed Mario Kart Deluxe. Although no more episodes will be produced, fans of the show can continue to watch all of the previous episodes anytime on demand only @TOONDISE and by visiting the Episodes page on TOONDISE.com.
